About the partner

Shrewsbury Prison was a working jail from 1793-2013. Today you can join a guided tour led by ex-Prison Officer’s (not ava. for TCs), or wander at your leisure, as a self-guider. There’s so much social history to see and understand incl: the main A Wing, segregation areas, exercise yards, visits room, healthcare area & execution room with the adjacent condemned man’s cell and executioner’s bedroom.

What do I need to know?

To enjoy a self-guided tour simply turn up and exchange your TCs at the ticket office. No pre-booking required.

Parking is available directly opposite the Prison (£4.50 per day). Parking tickets can be purchased at the Prison ticket office (TCs cannot be used for parking costs).
